The Karuna Home is a Registered Charity Residential Home for 9 adults with learning disabilities. The Karuna Home was set up and is managed by The Karuna Project. Karuna aims to provide high standard accommodation and support for our residents in a purpose built bungalow, which has single bedroom accommodation for nine adults. The Karuna Home, which opened in 1999, is a large detached bungalow set in its own grounds about half a mile from Carrickfergus town centre. It is situated close to the railway and bus station and the residents have easy access to a full range of local facilities, which they are encouraged to use. Joe
and Liz Curran were instrumental in the development of the home, and
their The main aim of The Karuna Home is to enable people with learning disabilities to have an “ordinary” life. We achieve this by encouraging and working with our residents to be fully integrated into the community in which they live, and to take part in its activities according to their individual needs, abilities and interests. All our staff are trained and supervised with a view to their achieving such positive outcomes for our residents. We value each and every individual who comes to live at The Karuna Home. |
