Day Activities

Much time and effort in Karuna goes to ensuring that each resident has as full and enjoyable a social life as possible.

We presently employ a Music Therapist, Reflexologist and Aromatherapist who attend Karuna weekly. In addition we facilitate residents to attend the local Institute of Further and Higher Education for classes such as Art and Trampolining. Residents also go swimming and participate in a range of physiotherapy programmes. The staff within Karuna promote the residents daily living skills and build on communication and choice.

Social Life

Integration into the local community is a priority in Karuna. Whether it be shopping, eating out or using local leisure and educational facilities, every opportunity is taken by the residents, both individually and as a group, to be part of and ‘enjoy’ the community and what it has to offer.

Visitors

All visitors are welcome and there are no set visiting times. Karuna is the residents’ home and we actively encourage relatives and friends to visit whenever it suits them and the residents.
However sometimes it is advisable to phone first to avoid disappointment
as the resident may be out.

Holidays

The residents enjoy a short break during the summer in small groups on 1:1 basis. We have been to a variety of places both locally and in the mainland.
