A community based home for 9 adults with severe learning and physical difficulties

Suzanne Curran

Suzanne was the first resident in Karuna. She had a devastating condition called Tuberous Sclerosis, a disease characterised by learning disability, severe epilepsy and a facial rash. But Suzanne was bigger than her disability. Her personality, like her eyes, shone brighter than any disease. At home with her family, at school and into adulthood as a resident in Karuna, Suzanne lived life to the full.

When she took up residency in Karuna she got fully involved in all the activities in the home and enjoyed the attention that was lavished on her.She particularly enjoyed resting on the water bed in the sensory room or sitting at the window in the dayroom soaking up the sun.

Sadly Suzanne died in July 2007. Her time in Karuna was a happy one and the love and support she received there from her friends and staff could not have been bettered.
